St Martin in the Fields Constable's house in Hampstead St John at Hampstead

In 1816 Constable's father died leaving him financially secure and removing the obstacle to him marrying his long standing fiancee Maria Bicknell. They were married in St Martin in the Fields by his lifelong friend the Reverend John Fisher, son of the Bishop of Salisbury.

Constable's house in Hampstead where he moved with his family in 1819 for his wife's health. They had seven children together, but Maria died of Tuberculosis in 1828 aged only 40.
