There will be people who remember the old days of the paper Chat which came in the post and always included news of our cats. Indeed, there may even be those who remember the same cats in BAPLA Journal. Sadly George and Lizzie have long gone although we are still beset by cat hairs on the transparencies and still use mouse mats with George on them. Collections has been taken over by two cats belonging to neighbors who clearly know a soft touch when they see one. Solly and Fletcher are bizarre friends.Fletcher, who resembles a hairy cow-pat, is inclined to deposit himself on todays newspapers or better still, on Simon's desk on top of a heap of contributors CDs and preferably when Simon is trying to work. Solly, a pretty tabby, prefers the sofa. Nobody owns a cat because they choose where to live and with whom. We want a Siamese and intend to treat ourselves as a 50th wedding anniversary present but Solly and Fletcher may not approve – and maybe all three will move next door.
