Welcome to Collections Picture Library

Issue 10

One of our contributors recently reported back to me that a researcher who he’d suggested should get on to us had stopped using us because we “only have old pictures”. Now, Collections has been around in one form or another for over thirty years, but that doesn’t mean we are not still adding to the library. Since January I have put over 6000 pictures on the site, the majority of which will have been taken within the last year or so. That may not sound like a huge number, but, unlike some of the major libraries, we still look at every picture and only take material that will complement the collection. Why edit? Well, we would like to think that if you put in a keyword you will just get what you are looking for and all the pictures will be different!

There is also an assumption that because we are small(ish) and specialized we will be more expensive. OK, we aren’t in a position to offer “All you can eat” deals like some, but we are quite prepared to do deals where appropriate.

We are also human beings so if you are looking for something a bit offbeat or are simply too busy to do an online search yourself then you can still call us (or e-mail) and we'll do the search for you and we don’t charge service fees.

So that’s my rant for this issue, on with the show...
